The duty of a Color Guard is to render honors when the national anthem is played or sung, when passing in review during a parade, or in certain other circumstances such as a funeral or an inauguration.

I cannot fully express my gratitude and appreciation of these men and women. This is a difficult task that requires great strength. The burden of honoring fallen officers is one that pulls at the heart. I appreciate the grace and stoicism of these officers. It makes a difficult time so beautiful and honor-filled.
